Terrastock 6 is taking
place in
Providence, Rhode Island,
USA.
Click here for a Location Map
The event will be staged in two centrally located neighbouring
buildings in downtown Providence.

The main stage will be at Pell Chafee
Performance Center, a beautiful old bank building constructed in 1929.
This is the lit-up building you can see in the photograph on the
left.
Pell Chafee is an amazing open space with a three story tall high-vaulted
ceiling.
Click here for a photo of the inside
of Pell Chafee
AS220 hosts the second stage, highlighted
in this photograph by an ORANGE square. AS220
is a wonderful community arts centre that has been promoting art, music
and culture from Rhode Island, national and international artists, for
over 20 years.
Also shown
here, a BLUE square indicating the AS220 bar and Taqueria cafe, and
a RED square indicating the Perishable Theatre which will be our
merchandising area. More details of each follow below.

TICKETS
& SECURITY
Note that
it is VERY IMPORTANT that you hold on to your ticket for the ENTIRE
Terrastock weekend.
Performances take place in adjacent buildings and
people will have to go outside to get from one stage to the other. This
will include re-entry each time, and while this might be just a bit
tedious, there is no other way of ensuring everyone's safety and
security. So, PLEASE hold on to your tickets, so that they may be
displayed every time you re-enter the festival.
Of course, you will want
to hold on to them anyway, as each and every ticket is a hand-screened
piece of art, printed + illustrated by local artist Alec Thibodeau.

tickets if you haven't done so already! |

MORE ABOUT THE TERRASTOCK 6 VENUES
AS220
is located at 103-115 Empire Street. The AS220 performance space will
be STAGE 2 for Terrastock 6. You enter through the AS220 bar which also
contains the Taqueria Pacifica café. The bar and Taqueria are normally
open to the public, but for T6, both will be only serving festival
goers. There will be plenty of beer, booze, tacos, burritos, tostadas,
coffee and the like for sale all weekend. Really good food and drink -
The prices are very good, as well. Again, you must show your T6 ticket
to enter the bar and café. Entry to the performances on STAGE 2 is
just past the bar. There are restrooms at the rear. http://as220.org/
Directly next door is the PERISHABLE THEATRE, located at 95 Empire
Street. This space will be the Terrastock 6 merchandise area filled with
record vendors and T6 band tables, as well. There are additional
restrooms in this space. http://perishable.org/

Directly
next door to Perishable is the PELL CHAFEE PERFORMANCE CENTER, located
at 87 Empire Street. This is the main Terrastock 6 venue, STAGE 1.
This space is a huge, beautiful old building. Several restrooms are in
here, as well. We will be setting up a limited beer bar close to the
front entrance – bottled and can beer only. Go to AS220 (STAGE 2) for
the full bar.

Note: As we all are walking back and forth down the sidewalk between
sets and stage changes, PLEASE do NOT take beer or booze outside with
you. There will be recycle bins in each of these spaces near the front
doors. Chug.
All
of these spaces are on the ground floor and completely
handicap-accessible.
There
is NO SMOKING inside public buildings at all according to Rhode Island
state law. Step outside to smoke and be sure to have your T6 ticket for
re-entry.

GETTING HERE

to Providence T.F. Green Airport (PVD) or to Boston Logan International
Airport (BOS).
http://www.pvdairport.com/
http://www.massport.com/logan/
T.F.
Green Airport is a 15 minute taxi ride. Or use the RIPTA public transit
bus Route #12 or Route #66 for service to Providence. 401-781-9400,
800-244-0444.
http://www.ripta.com/
Bonanza Bus has regular service from Logan airport to the Providence bus
terminal. You will want to look at the Logan-Foxboro-Providence
schedule. There is also Bonanza service from New York City.
http://www.bonanzabus.com/
Of
course, everybody loves Greyhound: Greyhound Lines, 102 Fountain
Street, Providence, 401-454-0790, 800-231-2222.
http://www.greyhound.com/
The
main Providence downtown bus terminal (Kennedy Plaza) is 4 or 5 blocks
from Terrastock 6, a five minute walk. Local buses (RIPTA) and Greyhound
use this terminal.
The
Bonanza Bus terminal is located at One Bonanza Way, just off Exit 25 of
Interstate 95. Telephone: 401-751-8800.
Flying to Boston can be cheaper than flying to Providence, but flying
directly to Providence will usually be significantly cheaper than flying
to Boston, if you are travelling from a city served by Southwest:
http://www.southwest.com/
Trains: Amtrak has regular service to Providence. Boston is 30 minutes
away by Amtrak.
http://www.amtrak.com/
The
Mass Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) also runs commuter trains to
Providence from Boston; these trains take about 60 minutes. The MBTA is
significantly cheaper than Amtrak, but MBTA trains to Providence are
infrequent.
http://www.mbta.com/
The
Providence train station (Amtrak or MBTA) is less than one mile from
Terrastock 6 and is an easy 10-15 minute walk. Taxis are also available
and take less than 5 minutes.

PARKING

From the
South
RT 95 north
to Exit 21 (Broadway); At the top of the ramp go Right Go through 3
lights; AS220 is on left after 3rd light.
From the West
Take RT 6 to
downtown Providence. After exiting, you will pass the Westin Hotel on
your right. Take a right, and then another right on Sabin Street. Follow
Sabin past the Convention Center until you must take a left onto Empire;
follow Empire through two lights, AS220 is on the left after 2nd light.
From the East
RT 195 West
to RT 95 North; RT 95 North to Exit 21 (Broadway); At the top of the
ramp go right; Go through 3 lights; AS220 is on left after 3rd light.
Note
however that parking is very, very difficult
in downtown Providence. The good news is that the on-street parking
meters are not in operation from 5pm on Friday until 8am Monday morning.
So, don’t pay the meters! However, Providence has a ban on overnight
parking, which is a big problem. No street parking –anywhere – from 3am
until 6am.
If
you are staying in a hotel, they will provide you with private
parking. If you don’t need to rent a car, don’t. Providence is a very
small city anyway and everything is in easy reach by foot or a short
taxi ride. If you are driving to Terrastock 6, your best option would
be to leave your car where you are staying for the weekend (hotel or
with your local friends or wherever you are staying) and take a bus or a
taxi to get downtown. Finally, there are many, many public parking lots
all over downtown, but they can be very expensive.
Here
is a map of downtown parking lots (Terrastock 6 is marked in RED on this
map – the block of Empire Street between Washington and Westminster):
http://secreteye.org/pvdmap.jpg
NOTE: The above Parking Map also indicates the train station,
the downtown bus terminal (Kennedy Plaza), and several of the hotels we
recommend. |
